GW8 Gateway (RF/IR) — API

HTTP control of RF (curtain/motor, universal learning) and IR (GlobalCache Sendir, Pronto HEX, learned codes, AC) commands, plus local network discovery — for the MolSmart TCP/IP RF/IR Gateway.

Overview

The GW8 is controlled entirely over HTTP — every command (RF curtain/motor, IR in any of its four flavours, AC control) is sent as a single request built from the Gateway's IP address plus a set of query‑string variables.

RequirementDetail
Gateway already on the networkConfigure the GW8 on the local network (WiFi or Ethernet) first, using its own setup UI.
Fixed / reserved IPAssign the GW8 a fixed IP on the local network (static or DHCP reservation) before wiring up an integration, so command URLs stay valid.
To be confirmed

The source documentation for this API describes the transport as 'HTTP, using POST', but every worked example it provides is a plain GET request with all parameters in the query string (as reproduced throughout this page). Confirm which verb your specific firmware expects — GET is what the examples actually show.

5.2 / Getting Started

Discovery & Device Info

FINDFind a GW8 on the network

  1. From a computer on the same local network as the Gateway, browse to http://molsmart.local — it searches for any GW8 units present on the LAN.
  2. Browse directly to http://<gw8-ip> for the setup UI, used to create and manage remotes (RF/IR).
GET/info?type=1

Returns the firmware version and basic configuration of the Gateway.

Request
http://192.168.1.77/info?type=1
GW8 /info?type=1 JSON-like plaintext response
Example response — firmware version, WiFi network, IP, RSSI, remote storage usage

Curtain / Motor Control

Used for any curtain, blind or door‑motor remote, regardless of brand — the request shape is always the same, with rcId fixed at 51.

GET/control
ParameterMeaning
cIdthe remote's ID in the GW8 web interface — see below for how to find it
rcId51 — always 51 for curtain/door remotes, independent of brand
statebutton number on the remote, 1–4
userGW8 web interface username, default admin
pwdGW8 web interface password, default 12345678
Example
http://192.168.1.77/control?cId=1&rcId=51&state=1&user=admin&pwd=12345678

CIDFinding a remote's cId

Each remote configured on the GW8 web interface shows its own CID, which can be edited to any value you like — it must not repeat across remotes.

GW8 web interface — remote list with CID shown per remote
GW8 web UI — remote list, each card shows its CID (e.g. Cortina · CID:9999)

IR Command Types

The Gateway supports four different ways to send an IR command, selected by the rcId parameter (except Sendir, which has no cId/ rcId at all):

TypercIdNotes
Sendir (GlobalCache)n/araw IR timings in GlobalCache Sendir format — §5.5
Pronto HEXn/aa ready-made Pronto HEX code — §5.6
Learning (Universal)61a code learned and stored on the GW8 itself — §5.7
AC52structured air-conditioner control (temperature, mode, fan, power) — §5.8
TV53reserved for TV remotes; not covered by worked examples in the source document
5.5 / IR

Sendir (GlobalCache)

GET/control
ParameterMeaning
userGW8 web interface username
pwdGW8 web interface password
cIR channel/port to transmit on
gcthe Sendir code, starting at the frequency field — do not include the leading sendir,1:1,1 prefix
Crossed-out sendir prefix in the source documentation
As documented — the 'sendir,1:1,1' prefix is explicitly crossed out: start the gc value at the frequency
Example
http://192.168.1.161/control?user=admin&pwd=12345678&gc=38000,1,1,347,173,22,22,22,65,22,65,22,65,22,22,22,65,22,65,22,65,22,65,22,65,22,65,22,22,22,22,22,22,22,22,22,65,22,65,22,65,22,22,22,22,22,22,22,22,22,22,22,22,22,22,22,22,22,65,22,22,22,65,22,22,22,65,22,22,22,1570,347,87,22,3692&c=1

Pronto HEX

GET/control
ParameterMeaning
userGW8 web interface username
pwdGW8 web interface password
prontothe ready-made Pronto HEX code
cIR channel/port to transmit on
rrepeat count
Example
http://192.168.1.161/control?user=admin&pwd=26744769&pronto=0000 006d 0022 0002 0157 00ac 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0e94&c=1&r=2
5.7 / IR

Learning (Universal)

Sends a code that was previously taught to the GW8 and stored against a remote's cId/state (button) pair, regardless of the original remote's brand or protocol.

GET/control
ParameterMeaning
userGW8 web interface username
pwdGW8 web interface password
cIdthe remote's ID in the GW8 web interface
rcId61 — fixed for Learning/Universal
statebutton number on the remote, as configured in the web interface
Example
http://192.168.1.120/control?cId=1234&rcId=61&state=1&user=admin&pwd=12345678
To be confirmed

Teaching a new code to the GW8 (the learning process itself) is done through the Gateway's own web interface — the source document does not describe a separate HTTP endpoint to trigger or complete a learning session via the API.

To be confirmed

The worked example above also includes tp, type, p, m and c parameters that are not individually defined anywhere in the source document. They are reproduced here exactly as given — do not guess their meaning; confirm with MolSmart or by testing against a live unit before depending on them.

5.9 / Tools

Testing the API

To try POST/GET requests against the Gateway without writing code, the source documentation suggests a free Chrome extension:

Talend API Tester — Free EditionChrome Web Store listing — install it, paste the URL, switch the verb if needed, and adjust variables to see live results.

Notes & Open Items

Open itemDetail
HTTP verb (GET vs POST)Source text says POST; every worked example is a GET-style query string. See §5.1.
AMC / SEED CODE buttonsShown next to RAW/COPY on the RF (Door/Curtain) edit screen in the GW8 web interface, but no source reviewed explains what they do or whether they map to an API parameter. Still an open item per the internal manual-status tracking for this product.
Reading configured remotes via APINo documented endpoint lists the remotes/CIDs configured on a GW8 — only the web interface shows this (see the screenshot in §5.3).
Learning-session triggerNo documented endpoint starts/confirms a Learning capture — see the note in §5.7.
Undefined AC parameterstp, type, p, m in §5.8 — see that section's note.
Error / auth-failure responsesNot documented for any endpoint on this page — e.g. the response shape for a wrong user/pwd was not covered in the source material.
