Common Conventions
| Topic | Detail |
|---|---|
| Default TCP port | 502 on every module (relays, dimmers, inputs) — changeable per‑unit on its Integrations/Ports page. |
| Finding a module's IP | Check the module's own web interface (Config page) or your router's DHCP client list. The GW8 Gateway additionally supports local discovery at http://molsmart.local — see the GW8 page. |
| HTTP ports | Web interface / HTTP API default to 80 (plain) or 443 (HTTPS) — configurable per‑unit. |
| HTTP Auth / Session ID | The Config page of the lighting modules (Relay/Dimmer/Input) can require a username/password or a static 'Session ID' token for HTTP/API requests — enable and set it per‑unit before exposing a module beyond a trusted network. |
| CORS | Optional, per‑unit — lets a browser‑hosted integration call a module's HTTP API directly from another origin. |
| MQTT | Every module is an MQTT client, not a broker — point it at your own broker's address/credentials on its Integrations/Ports page. Topic naming is confirmed for the Dimmer family; see each product page for what is and isn't documented. |
These per‑module settings live on the module's own Integrations/Ports and Config web‑interface pages — see each product's full User Manual for the complete field reference of those pages.
About This Reference
This reference is compiled from MolSmart's internal API documents for each product family (Relay Board API, Dimmer TRIAC API, Dimmer 0‑10V API, GW8 API). Where a source document doesn't cover a given transport or field for a product, that gap is called out explicitly with a To be confirmed panel on the relevant page, rather than guessed at — most notably on the Dimmer 0‑10V and Input Module pages, whose source documentation is thinner than the rest of the line.
Found something wrong, or have the missing spec for one of the open items flagged on these pages? This reference is actively maintained — corrections are welcome.
